What I really like about it is um, there’s a line in Thinking Out Loud where I say, ‘When the crowds don’t remember my name’ – and that eventually *will* happen, like at some point in my life, people will stop caring about the music I make. It happens to everyone. There’s actually, there’s only Bruce Springsteen who still releases albums and people go, ‘Oh ****, Bruce Springsteen’s got an album out!’ No one has like a really long career where every single album they release, people care about. So I know that one day that’ll fade. But like, I’m having a lot of couples propose to that song at my concerts, and the thing that I like about that is um, even when people stop remembering my name and like music and stuff like that… you’ll always remember the day you got proposed to. And I’m now that memory. So like, I like that kind of stuff. Or being like, the song’s someone’s first kiss, or their first dance, or their funeral song. It’s like, those kind of memories last forever to one person, rather than one song being a hit for a year. So I like being those memories. That’s what it’s all about for me, I think.

MTV EMAs: Ed Sheeran ‘Politely Kicked Guests Out Of His After Party In His Pyjamas’

As if we needed another reason to love Ed Sheeran, reports are claiming the MTV EMAs host ‘politely sent guests’ home from his penthouse after party because he wanted to go to bed.

We feel you, Ed. You are our spirit animal.

After doing an amazing job of hosting the awards with Ruby Rose, Ed headed to Warner’s party at the ME hotel alongside Justin Bieber, Rudimental and Mark Ronson.

The Mirror reports that, as well as wetting their palettes with champagne cocktails, partygoers also got to fill their gobs with Wagyu beef mini-burgers, making our X Factor snack choices (Pringles, Minstrels and Lambrini) look pretty rubbish in comparison.

Justin and Rudimental apparently indulged in a game of pool (won by Biebs), before Mark took on Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon.

In the wise words of R. Kelly, ‘after the party it’s the after party’, so Ed invited his pals up to his penthouse suite to carry on the celebrations.

A source told The Mirror: “Trollies full of Jagerbombs were being shipped to Ed’s room on the top floor.

“They kept calling down requesting more, along with bottles and bottles of champagne.

“It got pretty raucous. Ruby ended up on crutches because her filming injury flared up again. And she ended up having a dance-off with Rudimental’s Piers, who’s also on crutches.”

Clearly our invite got lost in the post.

However, at around 3am (well past our bedtime), Ed reportedly decided to put his pyjamas on and crawl into bed, with the source adding: “By now, it was 3am and Ed was getting a bit tired and emotional.

“People still wanted to party, but he was in his night clothes and wanted to go to bed so he politely sent them all downstairs.”

Yep, we get pretty emotional when we’re tired too. We are Ed, Ed is us.

Fingers crossed he got a good kip in the end.
